How did this strange group presented in the previous post become a group? Well, Starley and Stormy are relations. Cousins maybe? Before their parents perished, they paid Memoria to take them in as apprentices. What exactly was memory to teach them? That was a bit unclear, but the money was sufficient to keep them fed and warm and more so Memoria agreed. The parents were clearly desperate and Memoria was in need of funding.
On this day, in the early morning, Memoria looked out over the gloomy town of Crimington. To the west of Crimington, much of the once fruitful land is now the litter box of the Big Flouffy. On this particular day, the smell from that area was worse than normal. Memoria thought, sipping her tea, that it must be time to find something better in life. Just then, she received a message from the high priestess of silk.
Silk is not only the most beautiful fabric in the whole world. It is pure and grants the wearer bliss. Thus, there is whole cult of silk and the high priestess is the head of the curch of silk. The church of silk is both wealthy and powerful, as it controls silk production and silk trade. And silk worship. So, getting a message from the high priestess of silk seemed like a big deal. The message summoned Memoria and her two apprentices.
Crimington being a small town and the curch of silk being the only big building of consequence, Memoria is able to make it there in no time with her little apprentices towing behind her.
When they arrive, they meet the high priestess of silk. She is so impressive that Memoria forget to question why she has hasked her to come with her quite useless apprentices and just listens in awe. The priestess explains that the Big Flouffy is causing problems for the holy silk product. Silk ends up smelly because of the habits of the Big Flouffy around Crimington and the Big Flouffy also loves to play with silk. Will Memoria take her two apprentices with her and find a way to distract the Big Flouffy to play somewhere else with with something else. And to help with the task Memoria may take with her the priest-in-training Vlad.
Memoria does not know what to say, so the high priestess proceeds to say that she will bestow riches upon Memoria if she succeeds at this quest.
Memoria finally finds her voice again and says she is willing.
Then the high priestess says that the group must rid her cellar of some huge ladybugs that suddenly showed up. If the group manages, then they have proven their capability and will be sent on the quest. Memoria asks if she can keep the dead ladybugs if they are successful. She has ideas for usage. This the priestess grants her.
The group goes down into the basement. The ladybugs are quite peaceful creatures and are stunned by the sudden attack and hardly know what to do. Starley shoots at a bug an kills it, Stormy stabs one with her sword, Vlad fries a couple and Memoria kills the last one.
They are successful! They are worthy of the quest! They do not question how easy it was to fight off the ladybugs.Vlad, however, dislikes that Memoria assumes the role of the group leader. He does not like being led. It is not like he is a little child!
The priestess sends the dead ladybugs to Memoria´s place and tells the group to go home and rest. The quest will start tomorrow and they must prepare. She also gives them 750 zenits to share.
Vlad, however, is not ready to rest. He goes off to the city library and looks up the map of known arkanas.
Then on his way back from the library, he has to fight seven fierce rats.
He fries them all with a spell and brings them to Memoria. She promises evryone rat-meat for breakfast.
Finally, once the girls have finished trying to refuse to have a boy in the attic, they all fall asleep. Their powers and abilities restore and improve as the sleep prepares their body and mind for another day of adventure.
