Far away, in one of the oldes galaxies in the universe at the very outskirt of the galaxy is a strange solar system. In the part of the world where you, my dear reader, live matter tends to lump together into spherical shapes due to the pull of gravity. In the odd corner of the universe we are taking a look at, gravity seems to be taking a break. Or maybe gravity is in some ancient form from back in the days when the universe was in a much denser state. For whatever reason, the planets in this universe are flat and somewhat starshaped. I could not make a picture, so the image here is just what DALL-E made from my description of what the world I will be telling you about looked like from above. Homeland, the people living there call it.
Homeland is one of seven such flat planets and a tiny sun orbits around the planets. Nobody knows what force is keeping the sun in orbit. Surely, it cannot be gravity as we know it. The tiny planets are not massive enough to keep a star, even a tiny star as the one illuminating the starry planets, in orbit. Nevertheless, the tiny sun keeps shining and orbiting and the tiny plants are still around. A wise loremaster once described the whole system to me and Homeland is the largest of the tiny planets and most of the time it is almost the center of the collection of planets.

While the structure of the planets and the sun is interesting, our story is starting somewhere more specific in Homeland. In a tiny corner, just a day´s travel from the edge is the village Crimington. The village is quite old, but few of the inhabitants live there by choice. The towns closer to the edge have been plague by a menace and people have sought refuge further inland. At the same time, the land at the center of the star is wealthy and rich people hardly have the patience to deal with thieves or other criminals. People that do not fit in are sent to live at the outskirts.
In this sad and filthy village, a group of four heros are soon to set out on a great adventure. They do not know that they are heros yet. They do not even know that they will set out and they do not know that they will form a group that together will achieve wonders. But they all have strong feelings about the menace terrorising the lands and are bound together by a strong hatred for Crimington.
The menace? Well, not all would agree with me that it is a menace. In fact, many in Homeland almost worship it. It is silver grey, big and flouffy. It is the biggest cat anyone has ever seen. And it does what cats love to do. It pushes things over the edge. Or eats it. And sometimes it pukes hairballs. In fact, the county Crimington is located in is called county of hairball-hate because of a big hairball hill that in warm weather will spread foul smell in the whole county.
